FAQ

What do I do when a holiday falls on my pickup day?

If a holiday were to fall on or before your pickup day, we will be there the day after your original pickup day. We are only closed for major holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day).

How can I pay my bill?

We do take credit/debit card payments, only thing is we must add a convenience fee for all card payments. Sending checks in the mail works great as well.

What do I do if my pickup is missed?

Please give our office a call 507-724-2086 or email info@richardssanitaiton.com, and we will work quickly to resolve any missed pickup concerns.

What do I do if I have extra garbage that won’t fit in my container?

If you know there will be extra garbage outside of your container, give the office a call 507-724-2086 or email info@richardssanitaiton.com so we can notify our drivers before your scheduled pickup day.

What time should I have my tote out by?

Please place your trash and/or recycling tote curbside by 6am or the night before your scheduled service day.

When snow starts to fall how do I guarantee my pickup won’t get missed?

The winter months are hard, when the snow and ice start to become an issue always make sure your driveway is plowed, there is rock/sand showing to prevent the truck from sliding and make sure there is no snow/drifts/etc. blocking the tote or dumpster. If the trucks are unable to get there on the scheduled day because of weather, we make sure to get out there as soon as possible after the weather clears up.

How do I place my totes for pickup?

Totes must be placed in the boulevard or street area approximately 1 ft from the curb and at least 3 feet from obstacles such as utility poles, mailboxes, trees, fences, cars, etc. There must be 3 feet between the totes if you have both garbage and recycling.

  • Handle on tote must face toward your home

  • If cars are parked on your street, please use your driveway for placement.

  • Winter – shovel a level area in the boulevard when placing totes there. Do not place your tote on top of a snowbank.
